Is Doctrinal Purity Important?

In the last few years I have noticed what appears to be a trend among professing Christians. There seems to be a belief that the Bible, or Bible doctrines, are of little importance. It seems the only thing that matters is if someone claims Jesus as their Saviour. Is this true? My personal opinion will be biased, as will the opinion of others. The Bible tells us;
Proverbs 20:1 "Wine is a mocker, strong drink is raging: and whosoever is deceived thereby is not wise."
Isaiah 5:11 "Woe unto them that rise up early in the morning, that they may follow strong drink; that continue until night, till wine inflame them!"

Ephesians 5:18 "And be not drunk with wine, wherein is excess; but be filled with the Spirit;"
