The Truth About the Bible

ring a question and answer session at a recent speaking engagement, a university student asked me, "Why do you believe that the Bible is the inspired word of God?"

Now this is a very interesting question, and probably one of the most important questions any Christian could ask themselves. What is so special, so unique about the Bible that Christians believe it is literally the inspired word of God?

God's Prescription for Happiness

Several years ago Ted Turner, the founder of CNN, said the Ten Commandments were written to take the fun out of life. God did not give us the Ten Commandments to hinder our joy or make us miserable. On the contrary, God gave us the Ten Commandments because they show us how to be truly happy. They are a prescription for happiness.

It's a widely accepted modern myth in our computer-driven, technological age that people today are in some way more advanced than people of thousands of years ago.

The biblical picture is that man has always been man. He has the same emotions, cares and needs today that he has always had. He has always been as curious about his world as he is today. The biblical measure of man is not technological, but moral.
