Relying on God's Creation

The purpose of this page is to help the people of An Carraig Baptist Church, and other Christians, to learn skills to use so they can rely on God's creation to provide for their needs.
If there is one thing we should have learned from the recent coronavirus scare, is that life can change quickly. Over the years, western society has become fully dependent on the system that we live in, and have lost much of our ability to provide for ourselves. We have come to depend fully on things like running water, supermarkets, socialised medicine, the gardai, social welfare, etc.

We have seen how fragile society is, so what happens if it all broke down?

It would be wise to learn some self reliance skills that people from the past used on a daily basis. Below you will find information and links that we are in the process of compiling. These are resources that we have found helpful and will get you started on being just a little more self reliant in your life.

Organic Gardening
We rely fully on supermarkets for our sustenance, but now we are having to wait in lines just to enter the shop so that we can buy food that is doused with pesticides, but you can limit your trips to the shop and grow healthier foods in your garden, or even in a flat. Also you will know how it was grown and who has been touching it.

God provides us with food, we just need to know where to look for it.

Behold the fowls of the air: for they sow not, neither do they reap, nor gather into barns; yet your heavenly Father feedeth them. Are ye not much better than they?
Matthew 6:26

Keeping Animals
A good way to have a source for food, fertiliser for your garden, and save money on lawn mowing is by keeping animals. Chickens, cows, pigs and goats are four kinds of animals to keep, and they will help provide for your families needs. Caring for animals also teaches children where their food comes from.
